Visit any park in China any day. You'll see a wide variety of people practicing taiji, ba gua, qi gong, etc. Internal martial arts, often referred to as Kung Fu, have been practiced for thousands of years. Kung Fu translates as skill, ability, that which takes time and effort to achieve. Benefits include flexibility, strength, heightened awareness, improved posture, reduced tension, deeper breathing, increased energy, and effective self defense skills (to name a few). Although mastery takes many years, benefits of studying kung fu are realized quickly.

"The journey of a thousand  miles begins with a single step."

Kung Fu Flint starts your training at the very basics: breathing, posture, and walking. These basics are crucial to health and proper bodily function.

Breathing:  Breathing provides oxygen to fuel the fire as well as ridding the body of waste products. Deep breathing also calms

the mind, relaxes the body, and stimulates the immune system. Without proper breathing, the body cannot function

  properly.

Posture:     Posture is also crucial to proper bodily function. Poor posture restricts breathing, reduces circulation, increases

stress and tension, damages joints, reduces vitality, and causes a host of chronic conditions.

Walking:     Most people walk like they did when they first learned. They lean forward and are literally in a controlled

fall. Just like poor posture, "baby walking" is very hard on the body and burns excessive energy. A healthy walking

gait, on the other hand, is fluid, easy, and has a meditative quality. It also conveys self confidence and is conducive

  to awareness of one's surroundings.

Simply learning and practicing these body basics, you will realize a powerful shift in your overall health, awareness, and vitality!

From there, you choose your path.

*Qi Gong-simple forms focused on posture, breath, awareness, and energy cultivation

*Taiji Quan-soft, relaxed, flowing movements, meditative awareness, and self defense

*Ba Gua-circular walking that balances energy while building self defense skills against multiple attackers

*8 animal style kung fu-learn to move and fight like a wild animal. Learn Tiger, Panther, Leopard, Wild Boar, Black Cobra,

   Praying Mantis, Crane, and Eagle.

*Weapons training

*Light Sabre training-sword training/combat with lighted sabres

Training is not limited to these styles. These are simply some of the options to help you explore what style(s) work best for you.

"We are very powerful beings, and we have great ability to heal. The foods we eat, water we drink, and air we breathe greatly impact our health. Less known but more important are our words and thoughts. Becoming aware of our mental state and striving to be more positive, loving, and compassionate will positively alter our reality, including health."

"Martial arts are a powerful tool to improving one's life and health, but they are just the start. As you delve deeper into the esoteric teachings, you are delving deeper into your core essence. As your focus shifts from you to those around you, your true power becomes accessible. This power brings new meaning to life."

"Kung Fu lives in everything we do, Xiao Dre! It lives in how we put on the jacket, how we take off the jacket. It lives in how we treat people! Everything... is Kung Fu." Mr. Han (Jackie Chan, The Karate Kid)

Testimonials:

Thank you Dawei for all the clear instruction, feedback and innumerous "posture checks" over the past 8 weeks. My energetic awareness and posture has strengthened significantly as a result of the close attention to detail you've provided throughout classes. I am grateful to carry this experience onward in life.
- Katie

I had been planning on getting surgery because of pain in my middle finger. After only four classes, my finger no longer hurts. I have to attribute it to the training as nothing else has changed. I've also realized better range of motion and less discomfort in my shoulder after an injury.
- Celia

I studied with Dawei for several years in Chicago. I appreciated his teaching style as he went the extra mile to make sure his students progressed. His depth of knowledge, both in Kung Fu and the human form, are vast, and he was able to communicate this knowledge clearly. He was very focused on posture and breathing as both are necessary for increasing awareness. I can personally attest to that. As a Chicago police officer, I found that not only was I more alert and calm, but also I was able to diffuse potentially violent situations much easier.
- Joey

I have really benefitted from Dawei's classes! Being a small woman, it's a great boost of confidence to know that size really doesn't matter in self defense. I've also really noticed an improvement in my posture and balance, as well as less tension in my shoulders and back. What excites me the most is being able to teach this to my 2 year old daughter!
- Nicole

I have been taking classes with Dawei Li for several months now and I have thoroughly enjoyed each class.  Dawei keeps it fresh and interesting as well as fun!  He teaches each student according to their fitness level and makes each student feel welcome and special!
